Celebrating 2022

“She is my success story. I am so proud of her!” remarked Stacie Rodriguez, Case Manager, as she hung up the phone with Breyanna. These two have been connected since the day Bre came to The Sanctuary at the age of 17 and was placed in the care of the McClelland family. We’ve shared some her story in the past as she was navigating teenage motherhood and the transition from foster care to extended care as she prepared for independent living. Today, we share that she has gotten the keys to her own apartment and is beyond excited to raise her son in a place of their own! A couple of months prior to her moving in, her family and the Sanctuary staff gathered items for her new place to help make it a real home.

Bre faced many challenges over the past two years with changing schools, being a pregnant teen, becoming a mom, and all the educational and relational hurdles that come with those. With the help of the McClellands (whom she calls Mom and Dad), Stacie, and other Sanctuary staff, she has been able to navigate through them all and is more than ready to take the next steps into adulthood and create a beautiful home for her and her son.

Our mission is to provide permanent sanctuary and healing homes for children and families from hard places and Breyanna is a wonderful example of why this is our mission and proof that Wraparound Care works! To have an extended “family” who has stood beside her and helped her navigate life’s many challenges, she is now able to provide that permanent sanctuary and healing home for her son. Congratulations, Bre! We are so proud of you!

Celebrating Our Foster Kids

TOTAL FOSTER KIDS: 143

In 2022, we had 143 foster kids come through our agency and into our care - 127 were at the Clear Lake Branch with 16 being at our new Fort Bend Branch. We licensed 37 new homes and offered 138 classes. That’s a lot of training… in hours, that’s 480!

TOTAL REUNIFICATIONS: 51

We celebrate when a child is able to achieve permanency through successful family reunification, and we had 51 of our kids do just that! We look forward to the eventual launch of our Bio Family Mentorship Program to help provide permanent sanctuary and healing homes for our kids who return to their biological parents.

TOTAL ADOPTIONS: 22

We rejoice that 22 children found permanency in 2022 through adoption. We are excited about how much our post adoption services will grow in 2023 as we continue to extend a high level of support to families, both Sanctuary and community families, that have provided permanent sanctuary and healing homes through adoption.

Celebrating Our Community

FOSTER FAMILY EVENTS: 12

We host foster and adoptive family events to help our families be in community and feel supported and loved. At an event this fall, one foster child said, “They’re all fosters?!” It is so important for both our foster children and foster families to know others who are like them. When we host events to get them together, we provide community that helps them feel known and loved!

MEAL TRAINS: 57

When a family gets placed with a new foster child, our meal team provides 2 weeks of meals so that the family can focus on bonding and settling in from such a big adjustment. One family said, “Thank you all for the wonderful dinners. Your kindness means so much to our family. We are all still getting adjusted to our new normal. We hope and pray our family gets stronger and closer each day.”

CHURCH PARTICIPATION: 10

Founded by believers who have been deeply impacted by the Gospel of Christ, we seek to be the hands and feet of Christ to every child and family in our care. While we are not a church, we do seek and receive support from local churches, both financially and personally through volunteering. We welcome local churches to extend and share the Gospel and grace of Christ by wrapping around our families and children.
