This support group is a place for foster, adoptive, and kinship parents to come together for community and receive support and encouragement from families on the same journey. We will have coffee to enjoy during our conversation. The group meets once a month typically on the 2nd* Monday from 9:30 - 11:00am at South Main Baptist Church. Friday night Fun! On the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month, we host Kids Crew for kids ages 6-12 and Teen Group for teens ages 13 to 17. These groups are a place for foster, adoptive, and biological kids of families of The Sanctuary to come together to receive support and have some fun in community with their fellow peers! They will meet at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church. Parents can drop off and will need to sign their child and teen in and out at drop-off and pick up.
Special opportunity for parents! There will be a special guest, Alicia Phillips, OT-intern, presenting the following topics to parents during the time the kids are in group!

Fort Bend Family Event | Saddles & Smiles
We want to invite you and your family to Saddles and Smiles at the Barn! This special event is for foster, adoptive and kinship families that will be an Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) experience—while there won’t be any horseback riding, families will enjoy meaningful, hands-on activities in the arena with horses that focus on connection, communication, and teamwork. The event is open to children ages 2 and up.

Clear Lake Family Event | Morning at the Museum
We want to invite you and your family to a Morning at the Museum! This special event is for foster, adoptive and kinship families to enjoy a morning (or the day) at The Children’s Museum of Houston. You will have a chaperone volunteer to be assigned to you to enjoy the interactive experiences. Check in will be at 9:45am to pick up a snack bag upon entrance and assemble before going in. We will all need to go in together.

Family Event: Fishing with Friends
We have a couple volunteers offering their boats for us to enjoy the morning fishing on the water. All equipment will be provided for fishing. This event is limited to 18 people only so registration is VERY important!
To be overly cautious, this event is open for children ages 6 and up.
Lunch with hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided after everyone returns from fishing!

Teen Group & Kids Crew
Friday night Fun! On the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month, we host Kids Crew for kids ages 6-12 and Teen Group for teens ages 13 to 17. These groups are a place for foster, adoptive, and biological kids of families of The Sanctuary to come together to receive support and have some fun in community with their fellow peers! They will meet at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church. Parents can drop off and will need to sign their child and teen in and out at drop-off and pick up.
Special opportunity for parents! There will be a special guest, Alicia Phillips, OT-intern, presenting the following topics to parents during the time the kids are in group!

Wiggles & Giggles Playgroup
Wiggle your way for some giggles and developmental play with your little ones! This playgroup will have a new focus each week for children ages 0 to 3 years old taught by our Occupational Therapist student, Alicia Phillips, or Sanctuary Clinician, Lynz Costa to discuss ways to promote healthy growth! This is for targeted for children 0-3 but if they have an older sibling, they are free to participate as well! We will be meeting February 11th through May 6th from 10:00 - 11:30AM. Please note, you do not need to attend every session to benefit.

Clear Lake Family Event | Morning at the Movies
We invite our Foster, Adoptive, and Kinship Families to join us for a morning at the movies! This event is hosted in Clear Lake but open to all of our families. We invite our Foster and Adoptive Families to join us for a morning in your PJ’s while watching a movie and crafting while enjoying hot cocoa! All supplies, snacks, and lunch will be provided. This event is hosted in Bend but open to all of our families. There will be volunteers to help assist families and play with kids.
